FAQ's

What Is Mental Game Coaching?
Mental Game Coaching is not simply sports psychology.

  • It focuses on the strengths of an athletes mental and physical abilities and mental preparation skills.
  • It helps athletes develop the ability to prepare mentally for competition
  • It gives them tools and strategies aimed at getting the best results
  • It equips today's athletes with mental tools...on and off the field

Mental Game Coaching is that segment of sports psychology that concentrates specifically on helping athletes break through the mental barriers that are keeping them from performing up to their potential. The primary goals is to teach athletes how to be more confident, focus better, stay composed under pressure, practice more efficiently, and develop better pre-performance routines. The main difference between a mental game coach and a therapist is that mental game coaches work with athletes on sports performance enhancement and not personal challenges or abnormal behavior.

How does Mental Game Coaching work?
The first step in mental coaching is to identify your mental game strengths and weaknesses. The athlete is administered an Athlete Mental Aptitude Profile or AMAP. This assessment tool serves as a guideline towards developing a complete picture of their mental game, regardless of the specific sport or performance.

Once the athlete grasps the basic concepts and skills, the application plan of the mental game coaching starts. This is where I help you apply what you learned in the sessions to your sports performance. I will help you integrate mental skills into regular practice and performance routines.

Finally, the follow-up phase of mental coaching helps you apply what you've learned on a consistent basis. I assist athletes to stay committed to sound thinking and maintaining a positive attitude until their positive mindset becomes second nature and habitual. The best results of mental coaching come from long term application of mental training as you apply the skills day after day.
